About Allodial Resources

What Allodial Resources is for, who writes it, how claims are checked, and where to write when we get something wrong.

What this site is

What you are looking at is a working blog. Old pieces stay up in the archive rather than quietly disappearing, including the ones that have aged badly.

There was no plan. Marcus Delaney kept being asked the same handful of questions about business funding, got tired of writing the same reply, and put the replies somewhere permanent.

The limits of this site

We are not the right place for advice tailored to your exact situation. Allodial Resources publishes general guidance, and the difference matters more than it sounds.

How this is put together

Nothing here is written from a search results page. If we have not handled it ourselves or spoken to somebody who has, we leave the topic alone until we have.

We are not neutral about quality, but we are honest about incentives. Where money is involved, the page says so.

How claims get checked and how money is disclosed is written down separately, on the editorial policy page.

Who writes here

You can see who wrote what, and you can see everything else they wrote. That is deliberate, because it makes a bad article expensive for the person who wrote it.

Marcus Delaney, Former underwriter and lending writer. Marcus spent over a decade underwriting small business loans for a regional bank before he started writing about the process from the other side of the desk. He explains what a lender is actually looking at, not what a broker says they want to hear.

Renee Ashworth, Small business owner and funding writer. Renee has run a small retail business for nine years and has borrowed through a term loan, two lines of credit, and one merchant cash advance she still brings up as a cautionary tale. She writes about funding from the side that actually signs the paperwork.

Callum Whitfield, Bookkeeper and cash flow writer. Callum keeps the books for a handful of small businesses and sees their cash flow problems months before the owners do. He writes about forecasting and funding math the way he explains it to a client staring at a spreadsheet.

Where the articles sit

  • Business Loans. Term loans, SBA loans, and what a lender actually weighs before saying yes.
  • Lines of Credit. Revolving credit, draw periods, and when a line beats a lump sum.
  • Business Credit Cards. Building credit, reading the fine print, and skipping the rewards traps.
  • Alternative Funding. Invoice factoring, merchant cash advances, and what they actually cost.
  • Cash Flow Management. Forecasting, seasonal gaps, and staying solvent between invoices.
  • Funding Readiness. Documents, credit prep, and the questions a lender asks before anything else.

Each piece sits under exactly one heading. Readers arriving from search mostly land in business loans, lines of credit and business credit cards, so those sections get looked after first.

Why this name

People ask about the name. There is rarely a good story behind a domain, and there is not one here either. Allodial Resources was available, it was short enough to say out loud, and it has been the name long enough now that changing it would be more confusing than keeping it.

Telling us we are wrong

Tell us which line is wrong and why, at [email protected] or through the contact page. Small errors are corrected the same week. Anything that changes the advice gets a dated note at the bottom of the article.
